Every year thousands of tourists come to Croatia to admire the breathtaking views. But if everyone knew about the historical sites, music festivals, local wine and cuisine this number would increase significantly.

Beaches
Let’s start with the main thing, the beaches are the country’s biggest attraction. The clear, translucent water of the Mediterranean Sea washes over numerous pebble and white stone beaches. And if you prefer sand, be sure to visit Zlatni Rat beach on the island of Brac, the shape and size of which changes endlessly under the influence of alternating tides.

Seafood
Croatia’s freshly caught seafood alone is worthy of a visit. Sea delicacies are prepared here to suit all tastes, but the most traditional way is grilled on a wood-fired grill, splashed with olive oil and lemon, accompanied by local wine and blitva on the side (baked Croatian beet leaves). An irreplaceable part of such a meal will be, of course, the unique view.

National parks
The future of Croatia’s natural wonders is protected by national parks. There are parks the size of entire islands, such as Mljet and Kornati. Dozens of lagoons and waterfalls gurgle coolly in the Krka and Plitvec parks. And the mountain slopes and lakes in Risnjak are so reminiscent of Switzerland.

Historical heritage
The history of Croatia is not limited to the life of Croats alone. Visiting this country you visit the history left by the Habsburgs, Romans, Greeks and Venetians – statues, forums, fortifications and an almost intact amphitheater. Most of them are in the open air awaiting the visits of new generations. Dozens of churches, such as in Zadar, Sibenik and Dubrovnik, fill these places with sights. In the very center of Split there is an ancient Roman palace, which is about two thousand years old.

Wine
Many people are familiar with French, Spanish and Italian wines, which can be purchased in most countries of the world without much difficulty. But few people have tasted real Croatian wine, here winemakers make it in small batches that are barely enough for local restaurants and stores. For example, Dingac Plavac Mali wine from the Pelješac peninsula can only be purchased where it was grown and prepared, which would be a great reason to visit the charming little winery.

Adriatic Islands
The exact number of islands around Croatia is still not known. There are over a thousand islands, most of which are uninhabited. It is very easy to visit those that are at least minimally populated, there are always catamarans and water cabs going to them at affordable prices. Each island has its own character. For example, Mljet is ideal for a quiet and peaceful vacation, while Hvar is for parties. The island of Korcula is a real treasure trove of history.

Wild animals
Croatia is home to many wild animals and even those endangered in Europe – lynx, brown bear and wild cats. Life is teeming everywhere, from the forests to the sea waves. Sea creatures await visiting divers while rare birds nest among the wetlands at Kopacki Rit.

Active vacation
Activities for all tastes and wallets are Croatia’s specialty. Istria is ideal for cycling and Velebit for hiking. Windsurfing is available in Viganj. The entire coastline is littered with diving schools for beginners and professionals. Shipwrecks and airplanes lurk on the seabed, waiting to be visited. For those who want to spend the day on the water rather than under it, luxury yachts cruise endlessly around the thousands of islands.

Fruit and vegetable markets
You won’t find packaging labeled “organic” here, because it goes without saying. Everything sold at these markets is locally grown by the locals, as it has been done by previous generations. The aroma and taste of such products is the main proof of this.

Sunset on the coast of Fairytale Dalmatia
Sunset is an incredible phenomenon in Zadar, a city famous for the Venetian and Roman ruins of the Old Town, where nature provides ideal conditions for the reddest sunsets night after night. The sunsets that stole Hitchcock’s heart never tire of playing with colors, spilling over the neighboring islands and Venetian facades of the houses. Welcome to the mind-blowing beauty of Zadar.
